The world_geology.zip file (460KB) contains a World_Geology.KMZ file that uploads 12 tiled
images (shown below) into Google Earth to produce a seamless, world coverage of continental
geology by Era (except for those areas lacking coverage).

Individual tiles can be dowlnloaded and viewed as text files, then saved as KML files to be loaded
individually (see instructions below).

* Color scheme for the geology coverage:
Yellow- Cretaeous, Green - Mesozoic, Pink - Paleozoic, Gray - PreCambrian

Instructions:

1. Click on an image above to access the associated *.txt file.
2. Save the file to your desktop or a folder.
3. Rename the .txt filename extension to .kml.
3. Open the kml file in Google Earth.

Notes:

* Maps are generated at the 1:40 million scale from shapefiles obtained from the US Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Canada.
* World physiography coverage from US Geological Survey.
